Prof. Jacek C SZEPIETOWSKI MD, PhD, FRCP

Jacek C Szepietowski, MD, Ph.D., FRCP born in 1966, is a full professor and Chair of the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology, Wroclaw, Poland. In the years 2011-2020, he served as a Vice-Rector (Vice-President) for University Development of Medical University in Wroclaw, Poland; in the years 2007-2011, he was the Director of the Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He is an Immediate Past President of the European Society for Dermatology and Psychiatry, Past President of the Polish Dermatological Society, and Past Present of the International Forum for the Study of Itch. In the years 2009-2013, he served as Vice-President of the International Society of Dermatology, and in the years 2018-2020 as a Member of the Executive Committee of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. He is a Board Member of the International Society of Dermatology, the Euro-Asian Association of Dermatovenereologists, the European Society for Dermatology and Psychiatry, and the International Forum for the Study of Itch. He also served as a member of the Council of the European Confederation of Medical Mycology (till 2008). He is a Chair of the Education Committee of the International Society of Dermatology and he was a Chair of the Project Proposal and Review Committee of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (2017-2021). Prof. Szepietowski is an author or co-author of more than 700 scientific articles, 17 books, more than 70 book chapters, and more than 300 congress communications. His index “h” (Web of Science) is 59. He serves as Section Editor of Acta Dermato-Venereologica, Associate Editor of Dermatology, Associate Editor of Dermatologic Therapy, Associate Editor of Journal of Investigative Dermatology, Academic Editor of Inflammation Research, Academic Editor of Case Reports in Dermatological Medicine and the member of the Editorial Board of numerous journals. Prof. Szepietowski has been awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the Caucasus International University in Tbilisi, Georgia (2020). Is an Honorary President of the Polish Dermatological Society, an Honorary Member of The Scientific Research Sigma Xi Society (USA), the Georgian Association of Dermatovenereologists, the Georgian Society for Photodermatology and Skin Cancers, the Serbian Association of Dermatovenereologists, the Belarusian Society of Dermatovenereologists and Cosmetologists, Association of Dermatolovenereologis of Uzbekistan, National Alliance of Dermatologists and Cosmetologists of Russia, Slovak Society for Aesthetic and Cosmetic Dermatology, Cosmetic Dermatology Society of India, Psychodermatology Association of India, Association of Psychoneurocutaneous Medicine of North America, Ethiopian Society of Dermatology, French Society of Dermatology and Italian Society of Dermatology and Sexually Transmitted Diseases. His main topics of interest are itch, psychodermatology, and chronic skin inflammation, including hidradenitis suppurativa, psoriasis, and atopic dermatitis.
