Dr. May El-Samahy, MD, has been a Professor of Dermatology at Ain Shams University since 2000. She received her MD and MSc in Dermatology and Venereology from Ain Shams University in 1989 and 1984, respectively. Dr. El-Samahy is an accomplished dermatologist with a special interest in LASER and cosmetic dermatology, electron microscopy, and immunology.
In addition to her academic position, Dr. El-Samahy has held various leadership roles in the field of dermatology. She currently serves as the Vice President of the Egyptian Society of Dermatology and Venereology and as the Secretary General of the Women Dermatologic Society. She is also a founder member of the Egyptian Afro Asian Society for LASER and Cosmetology.
Dr. El-Samahy is a respected member of several professional organizations, including the Egyptian Medical Association, the Egyptian Society of Dermatosurgery, the Egyptian Society of Immunology and Allergy, and the Egyptian Society for Electron Microscopy. She is also a member of the Mediterranean Acne Board and serves on the advisory board of several journals, including the Egyptian Women Dermatologic Society Journal, the Journal of Egyptian Society of Dermatology and Venereology, and the Italian Journal for Acne and Related Disorders.
Dr. El-Samahy has made significant contributions to the field of dermatology through her extensive research and scholarship. She was awarded the 1998 Award for the best scholarly article appearing in the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery. She has supervised over 150 MSc and MD theses and has authored numerous national and international publications.
