I was born in Ankara-Turkey in 1963. In 1989, I completed my medical education in Erciyes University Medical Faculty, Kayseri, Turkey. My dermatology residency was in Dokuz Eyll University Medical Faculty, Izmir, Turkey between 1992-1997. Professor Dr. Ali Tahsin Gunes, who modified a colposcope into a dermoscope with an external light source, was my mentor. I studied on my thesis entitled Dermoscopy in Melanocytic Melanotic Lesions between 1994-1997.This thesis was the first thesis on dermoscopy in Turkey. I presented many studies and case reports in national and international congresses on dermoscopy. I had also given lectures as an instructor in many dermoscopy courses which were held in national congresses and regional meetings. I am currently working as a professor in the Celal Bayar University Medical Faculty Department of Dermatology, Manisa, Turkey.
I am currently a member of Dermatovenereology Association of Turkey, Turkish Dermatology Association, Turkish Dermatopathology Association, Turkish Skin and Venereologic Diseases Association, International Society of Dermatology (ISD- Member of Regional Meeting Committee), European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV), American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) (Since 2001). Moreover, I am also a board member in International Dermoscopy Society (IDS)
My area of interest is mainly dermoscopy, but I also deal with nevi, malignant melanoma, wound healing, clinical dermatology, and dermatosurgery.
