Abstract

The skin barrier protein filaggrin, encoded by FLG, plays a central role in the pathogenesis of AD in many different populations studied world-wide, but its role in people with African heritage remains unclear. Prof Sara Brown is an expert in genetic mechanisms in atopic skin disease. Her short talk highlights what is known and what remains unknown about unique aspects of this complex disease.
