Professor John Paoli is Head of the Department of Dermatology and Venereology at the University of
Gothenburg (Sweden). His research group focuses on the prevention, epidemiology, early diagnosis
and optimal management of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers. He is a consultant
dermatologist at Sahlgrenska University Hospital where he leads the Skin Cancer & Mohs Surgery
Centers. He is the Administrative Coordinator of the International Dermoscopy Society, a Board
member of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology and the Treasurer and Past
President of the European Society of Micrographic Surgery. He has also been the President of the
Nordic Dermatology Association, the Swedish Society of Dermatology and Venereology and the
Swedish Society of Dermatologic Surgery and Oncology. In addition, he runs annual Nordic courses
within the fields of dermoscopy and dermatological surgery.
