The importance of antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibodies (ANCA) in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)

ANCA may be markers of vasculitides, but can be also found in connective tissue disease, especially in SLE. In patients with SLE, it is important to test ELISA ANCA profile, since in the IIF test ANCAs may be masked by ANA. We found that especially lactoferrin-ANCA are predictors of kidney damage in SLE patients.
