Dr. Lim has served as president of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), American Board of Dermatology, and International Union of Photobiology. In 2023, he was elected as president of the International League of Dermatological Societies. He has received 15 presidential citations from the AAD, and in 2020, he was awarded an Honorary Membership of the AAD. Clinical aspect of Leprosy

Dr Archana Singal (MD, FAMS) is the Director Professor and head of the Department of Dermatology & STD, University College of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. She has been a teaching faculty for over 30 years. She is the Founding President of the Nail Society of India (NSI), established in 2012 (2012-2020). Her chief areas of interest include nail disorders including nail surgeries and tropical dermatology. Prof. Singal is the Editor-in-Chief of Indian Journal of Dermatology Venereology & Leprology (IJDVL), the highest impact dermatology journal from Asia. She has published over 270 scientific journal articles, and has contributed more than 50 chapters related to skin and nail disorders in numerous standard textbooks. She has been the Editor of the book ‘Comprehensive Approach to Nail Disorders’.

Dr Ewan A. Langan became the current Editor-in-Chief of “Skin Health and Disease” in 2023 having served as Deputy Editor from 2020. He is the lead for translational Dermato-Oncology at the University Clinic of Schleswig-Holstein in Lübeck, Germany and an honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Manchester, UK. Dr. Langan is a UK-trained Dermatologist who has completed specialist training in both Dermatology (UK) and Dermatology and Venerology (Germany). The first Walport Academic Clinical Fellow to be appointed in Dermatology in the UK in 2006, he completed his initial Dermatology training in Manchester before securing an MRC Clinical Training Fellowship which enabled him to pursue his research interests in cutaneous neuroendocrinology, leading to the award of his PhD (University of Manchester) in 2014. Having been awarded funding from the German Centre for Infection Research, Dr. Langan has more recently focused on the role of the microbiome in both inflammatory skin disease and skin cancer.

Chromoblastomycosis in Indonesia and recent findings

Dr Marlous Grijsen is a dermatologist and senior clinical scientist at the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit Indonesia, focusing her research on neglected tropical skin diseases (skin-NTDs), including the stigma and discrimination associated with it. She is the lead investigator of an ongoing randomized clinical trial evaluating metformin as adjunctive therapy in multibacillary leprosy to mitigate leprosy reactions. She has established teledermatology services to improve access to care in underserved areas in eastern Indonesia and is conducting a surveillance study to assess the burden of common and neglected skin diseases in Sumba Island.

Years of research experience have led to my accumulated exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills. With publishing more than 340 papers in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals such as Lancet Infectious Disease, Lancet Regional Health – Americas, my h-index is 35 with a total citation of more than 5000. I am the editor of high-index Journals including Cells (IF: 6), Frontiers in Immunology (IF: 7.3), Journal of Fungi (IF: 4.7), Biology (IF: 4.2), Viruses (IF: 4.7), Frontiers in Medicine (IF: 3.9), toxins (IF: 4.2), and Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology (IF: 2.3); member of the editorial board and reviewer of numerous high-profile journals, with multiple awards and grants in multiple first-rate scientific conferences all over the world. I am the incoming section editor of Technology in Dermatology including Artificial Intelligence etc., in the International Journal of Dermatology starting from January 2024. My research at Yale is focused on genetic skin diseases such as Ichthyosis, Hailey-Hailey disease, and Darier disease. The aim is to explore the pathophysiology of these diseases and discover new treatment options. Additionally, I am investigating the possible association between clonal hematopoiesis and skin cancer to determine the underlying pathophysiology and mechanism. Furthermore, I am collaborating with national and international organizations, primarily through Yale Dermatology, to create a Registry of Ichthyosis patients. The goal of this registry is to alleviate the suffering of patients and provide a platform for better communication and understanding among families affected by Ichthyosis and related illnesses. Moreover, I am in collaboration with colleagues from the University of New Haven (UNH) to develop a tool utilizing machine learning. This tool aims to construct an algorithm capable of offering a clinical diagnosis of Ichthyosis when a healthcare provider uploads a photo of a rare skin disease for analysis.

Understanding Chronic Itch in Neglected Diseases

Doctor, employed in the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology at the Piasts of Silesia Medical University in Wrocław as a research and teaching fellow, where she also pursues specialisation training in the same field. In 2022, she defended with distinction her doctoral thesis on chronic pruritus in diabetes mellitus.She has been the recipient of numerous awards and grants, including the prestigious Otto Braun-Falco Scholarship, for which she completed an internship at the University Hospital in Münster (Germany), where she gained experience in the treatment of pruritus and did research work. One year later, she received a Scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to continue her research work. In 2022, she won the Award of the General Board of the Polish Dermatological Society for the best scientific publication and won first place in the competition for the best clinical paper during the congress of the Young Forum of the Polish Dermatological Society.

I’ve been fortunate to work in the field of dermatology for over two decades, focusing on conditions that not only affect the skin but also have broader impacts on patients' mental health and well-being.I have been working in Leprosy clinic for more than 10 years after I joined PGIMER. I have published about 280 papers in peer reviewed journals and have contributed to more than 25 chapters in Textbooks of Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry and Paediatrics. My interest in neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) like leprosy and cutaneous leishmaniasis has grown through my involvement in various research and clinical initiatives. As part of the IADVL Special Interest Groups on Leprosy and NTDs, I’ve tried to highlight how these diseases affect individuals beyond just the physical symptoms, particularly focusing on the stigma and mental health challenges they face. In addition, I’ve developed a deep interest in psychodermatology—understanding the connection between the skin and the mind. Chronic skin conditions often require us to look at both physical and psychological care. I believe that offering comprehensive care that includes mental health support is essential for improving the quality of life for patients. It’s been a rewarding journey, and I feel grateful to contribute to these important areas of dermatology. My goal is to continue learning and helping those who are often neglected or stigmatized due to their conditions.

How to manage PIH in Asian Skin

Dr. Henry Foong Boon Bee is one of Malaysia’s leading experts in Dermatology, and currently the Chairman of Dermatology Chapter and the Past President of Dermatological Society of Malaysia. He is a board member of the NSR Dermatology Evaluation Subcommittee of the MMC. He graduated with an MBBS degree from the University of Malaya. His internal medicine and dermatology training was received at the UHKL and at the Department of Dermatology, HKL. He also had further clinical training at St. Thomas Hospital, London and a short preceptorship training at Skincare Physicians of Chestnut Hill in Boston. He is dual NSR certified in Dermatology and Internal Medicine. He is now consultant dermatologist at Foong Skin Specialist Clinic, Ipoh and a visiting consultant to Pantai Hospital Ipoh. He has been the Scientific Chairman for annual meetings of the national dermatology society. He has also been a Board member of League of Asean Dermatological Societies and the Asian Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. He was an editorial board member for the International Journal of Dermatology for several years and has been the Chief Editor for the Malaysian Journal of Dermatology. Henry’s main interests are laser surgery, inflammatory skin diseases and medical education.

Mapping the burden of atopic dermatitis globally

Carsten Flohr studied at Cambridge and Oxford Universities and then trained in both paediatrics and dermatology. He was the first UK National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinician Scientist in Dermatology (2009-2014) and also held a Career Development Fellowship from the NIHR (2014-2020). Carsten Flohr is Chair in Dermatology and Population Health Sciences at King’s College London and Honorary Consultant in Dermatology as well as Research & Development Lead at St John’s Institute of Dermatology, Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK. Professor Flohr has a particular interest in population-based dermatology research and clinical trials with a focus on atopic eczema. For instance, he is Chief Investigator of the NIHR-funded TREatment of severe eczema in children Trial (TREAT), which compares ciclosporine with methotrexate in children with recalcitrant atopic eczema. He is also Chief Investigator of the UK-Irish Atopic Eczema Systemic Therapy Register (A-STAR) and the EU Horizon 2020 Joint Program Initiative-funded Trans-Foods and the Mind & Skin consortia. The Flohr Group also investigates host-skin and gut microbiome interactions in inflammatory skin disease. In addition, Professor Flohr leads the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS) Global Atopic Dermatitis Atlas project. Professor Flohr is a Founding Director of the International Eczema Council and Past President of the British Society of Paediatric and Adolescent Dermatology. He is also Founding Editor of the Evidence-Based Dermatology Section of the British Journal of Dermatology and the Clinical Trials Editor of the F1000 Atopic Dermatitis Section.

Contributions to Science As a founder of Dystrophic epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association in Mexico (DebRA) his main field of work has been EB. His work on EB, started in 1994 with the first publications reporting this disease in Latin America, his collaborations have demonstrated how some patients present a phenotype that is opposite to the genotype of the mutation. He has studied a group of EB patients that have survived for over 60 years with an aggressive disease variant without suffering from squamous cell carcinoma. In collaboration with Dr. Angela Christiano, they worked on a study utilizing CRISPR Cas-9 techniques to produce 3D models of skin with the idea of grafting the wounds of EB patients. In the year 2012, he published on the JAAD joural, with international collaboration the second scoring system in the history of this disease: the Epidermolysis Bullosa Oropharyngeal Severity (EBOS) score: a multicenter development and reliability assessment. This score attempts to evaluate the severity of EB in the oropharyngeal cavity, which is many times is forgotten upon physical examination of these patients. For the last 20 years, his collaboration with Andrew South in molecular research for Squamous Cell Carcinoma that affects these patients has allowed for a deeper understanding regarding the aggressiveness of this often-fatal cancer. As a part of DebRA International and his interest in collaborating to improve patients quality of life he has published in 2016 at the BJD, The Management of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma in patients with epidermolysis bullosa: best clinical practice guidelines. In the year 2021, he published in J Rare Dis; Physiotherapy for epidermolysis bullosa: clinical practice guidelines. He has contributed in a multitude of studies for mutations such as Hypohidrotic EctodermalDysplasia, GAPO Syndrome, Olmsted, palmoplantar keratoderma punctata, Pseudoxanthoma elasticum and other genetic diseases. His last contribution is proposing haematohidrosis and haematolacria as a possible genetic disease by realizing the first exome sequencing study, finding genes related to the extracellular matrix as a possible cause. He was also the first to use the term trichorrage by demostrating how the erythrocytes exit through the pillous folilicle.. ISAD Open WHO course in AD on black skin

Alain Taïeb is professor emeritus of Dermatology at Bordeaux University. He established theNational Reference Centre for Rare Skin Disorders in 2005. He was until 2019 Director of INSERM 1035 research lab “Biotherapy of genetic diseases, inflammatory disorders and cancer” (BMGIC). He set up the European Task Force on Atopic Dermatitis in 1990, and the Vitiligo European Task Force in 2003, which are the current official ad hoc tasks forces of the EADV. He has authored more than 700 articles in peer-reviewed journals and more than 60 chapters in multiauthored books. In addition, he published “History of Atopic Dermatitis” with Dr Wallach and Tilles, in 2004, and two textbooks “Neonatal Dermatology” with Drs Enjolras, Wallach and Vabres (2009) and “Vitiligo” with Dr Picardo (2010- second edition 2019). His major topics of interest are pediatric dermatology, genodermatoses, atopic dermatitis, vitiligo and pigment cell disorders. He has received several awards and distinctions from the Society for Pediatric Dermatology, the European Society of Pediatric Dermatology, the International League of Dermatological Societies, the American Skin Association, and the European Society for Pigment Cell Research. H factor 68 (WoS). Dr Taïeb is currently President of the International Society of Atopic Dermatitis (ISAD).

New perspectives in Alopecia Areata Treatment- From Literature to Own Experience

Prof. Aleksandra Lesiak MD, habilitated doctor Dermatology and venereology specialistt, she is an associate professor at the Dermatology and Venereology Clinic of the Medical University in Łódź. She authored and co-authored numerous original and review articles in Polish and international journals. Her scientific work mainly focuses on cancerous skin diseases, psoriasis and children’s skin diseases. Aleksandra Lesiak MD, Ph.D is a member of Polish Society of Dermatology and European Society for Dermatological Research, European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. She completed residencies abroad (France, Great Britain). In 2011 she received the prestigious grant: L’OREAL for Women and Science and in 2012 she became the laureate of the ‘Supertalenty w Medycynie’ contest (Supertalents in Medicine). Since 2014 she has been the vice-president of Youth Forum Section of Polish Society of Dermatology and since 2015 a vice-president of Oncology section of PTD.
